چکیده

Molybdenum carbide (Mo2C) has been considered as a promising non-noble-metal hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyst for future clean energy devices. In this work, we report a facile, green, low-cost and scalable method for the synthesis of a Mo2C-based HER electrocatalyst consisting of ultrafine Mo2C nanoparticles embedded within bacterial cellulosederived 3D N-doped carbon nanofiber networks (Mo2C@N-CNFs) using 3D nanostructured biomass as a precursor. The electrocatalyst exhibits remarkable HER activity (an overpotential of 167 mV achieves 10 mA cm−2 and a high exchange current density of 4.73×10−2 mA cm−2) and excellent stability in acidic media as well as high HER activity in neutral and basic media. Further theoretical calculations indicate a strong synergistic effect between Mo2C nanoparticles and N-CNFs in the Mo2C@N-CNF catalyst, which leads to an impressive HER performance. Molybdenum Carbide Nanoparticles Coated into the Graphene Wrapping N‐Doped Porous Carbon Microspheres for Highly Efficient Electrocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution Both in Acidic and Alkaline Media

Molybdenum carbide (Mo2C) is recognized as an alternative electrocatalyst to noble metal for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, a facile, low cost, and scalable method is provided for the fabrication of Mo2C-based eletrocatalyst (Mo2C/G-NCS) by a spray-drying, and followed by annealing. As-prepared Mo2C/G-NCS electrocatalyst displays that ultrafine Mo2C nanopartilces are uniformly e...

Electrocatalytic performance of ultrasmall Mo2C affected by different transition metal dopants in hydrogen evolution reaction.

Molybdenum carbides are considered as one type of privileged noble-metal-free electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) due to their d-band electron structure, which is similar to Pt. Especially, the electronic structure of such materials can be further adjusted by elemental doping to improve their electrocatalytic activity. Herein, we selected the Anderson-type polyoxometalates (...

Molybdenum carbide stabilized on graphene with high electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction.

In this work, we developed a general two-step method to prepare molybdenum carbide (Mo2C) nanoparticles stabilized by a carbon layer on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) sheets. The Mo2C-RGO hybrid showed excellent performance, which is attributed to the intimate interactions between Mo2C and graphene as well as the outer protection of the carbon layer.

Cobalt nanoparticles embedded in N-doped carbon as an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for oxygen reduction and evolution reactions.

Cobalt based catalysts are promising bifunctional electrocatalysts for both oxygen reduction and oxygen evolution reactions (ORR and OER) in unitized regenerative fuel cells (URFCs) operating with alkaline electrolytes. Here we report a hybrid composite of cobalt nanoparticles embedded in nitrogen-doped carbon (Co/N-C) via a solvothermal carbonization strategy. With the synergistic effect arisi...
